Artist talk: Melanie Kitti, Elina Waage Mikalsen and Koffi & Højgaard
Melanie Kitti
Oslo Kunstforening invites you to a conversation between artists Melanie Kitti and Elina Waage Mikalsen, and curators Ida Højgaard Thjømøe and Pauline Koffi Vandet.
The conversation provides insight into the process behind the exhibition where others had stepped there were traces in us. The exhibition is part of Oslo Kunstforening's new initiative New Voices, where external, younger curators are invited to develop and curate an exhibition project specifically for the institution.
The artists will talk about the works in the exhibition, and the curators will discuss the concept of the exhibition and how they have worked with the artists' different, yet complementary practices.
In connection with Oslo city's 400-year anniversary, they will also address themes such as belonging, language, and cultural heritage. Oslo Kunstforening is housed in Rådmannsgården from 1626, one of the first buildings constructed after the city fire 400 years ago. This creates a fitting setting for a discussion about what it means to belong to a place, and how art can be a powerful voice in the city’s ever-changing and fragmented understanding of the past, present, and future.
