Unveiling of Fujiko Nakaya's fog sculpture in Ekebergparken

Four world-renowned Japanese icons, brought together in a unique, trans-disciplinary series of events embracing the ephemerality of fog, life, body, sound and light, involving fog sculptures, snow crystals, electrostatic discharges, a pioneering synth composer and a dance legend.

Oslo Kunstforening has the pleasure of presenting a suite of inter-connected works and events in collaboration with Statsbygg and the National Museum, Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, Dansens Hus and Ekebergparken.

Fujiko Nakaya has been invited to create two of her renowned, site specific fog sculptures in Oslo, one on the roof terrace of the new National Museum, and one at Ekebergparken.

This international event is being celebrated by Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, who have invited pioneering Japanese composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto to perform within Nakaya's fog sculpture. As part of the collaboration, Dansens Hus has invited the Japanese choreographer and dancer Min Tanaka to perform with Nakaya and Sakamoto. Artist Shiro Takatani is the light designer for the event.

In accompaniment, Oslo Kunstforening will present a unique exhibition, displaying the photographs of Fujiko Nakaya’s father, Ukichiro Nakaya.

On September 10th at 2 pm a second fog sculpture by Fujiko Nakaya will open, this time in Ekebergparken. The sculpture will be on view until September 30.
