Oslo Kunstforening has invited the Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya to make a fog sculpture on the roof terrace of the building site of the new National Museum. The audience will be able to experience the sculpture at the Open Day accompanied by the score "ff" ("foggy Fujiko") by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Nakaya created her first public fog sculpture at the World Fair in Osaka Expo ´70. She has exhibited her fog and cloud sculptures at major art venues all over the world, including the Guggenheim in Bilbao, San Francisco Exploratorium, Tate Modern in London and Centre George Pompidou in Paris. The roof terrace of the the new National Museum building is located in front of the City Hall, the harbor and the fjord. This will mark the first occasion for the public to get access to this spectacular site.

As part of Ultima, a live performance will take place with two legends of Japanese contemporary music and dance responding to Nakaya’s fog sculpture. Composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto will play an exclusive keyboard recital as an atmospheric sonic accompaniment to Nakaya’s fog and the choreographer and dancer Min Tanaka will perform within the piece. Artist Shiro Takatani is the light designer for the event.
