Mikael Damstuen Brkic is the new director of Oslo Kunstforening!
"The board of Oslo Kunstforening has appointed Brkic as its new Artistic and Managing Director. Brkic is educated as a visual artist and political scientist and has varied experience as a visual artist, writer, assistant director, coordinator, and administrative manager. He comes from the position of chair of the board at Prosjektskolen AS and will take up the position at Oslo Kunstforening in August. The board is confident that Brkic will build on the strong work that has been done at the association over the years, while also finding new approaches and reaching a broad audience."
– Frode Løvik, Chair of the Board, Oslo Kunstforening
"It is a great honour to be entrusted with leading Oslo Kunstforening, an institution that for 190 years has helped shape public discourse around art in Norway. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to build on this history. My connection to Oslo is personally important to me, and I hope to further develop the association as a place for artistic reflection, knowledge sharing, and meaningful encounters between contemporary art and the society around us."
– Mikael Damstuen Brkic
Brkic takes over from Elisabeth Byre, who moves on to a new position as Director of Galleri F 15 from August 2026.
