In connection with the group exhibition Forestill deg at du faller, Oslo Kunstforening is pleased to invite you to a book launch and conversation on Thursday, 19 March,  18:00–19:00. The conversation will take the "thing" and its significance as its point of departure – an overarching theme for both the exhibition and the publication, which includes works by Per Christian Brown, Book & Hedén, Hege Nyborg, Helene Sommer, and Thorbjørn Sørensen.

During the conversation, the artists will discuss the voices of things in the home and their ability to encapsulate memories, moving through the margins of things and objects as historical artifacts – their order, physiology, and systematization – to the sorting and archiving of the things we leave behind.

The talk will be moderated by art historian and curator Ellef Prestsæter (b. 1982), who leads the archive of the artist Guttorm Guttormsgaard (1938–2019). Today, Guttormsgaards arkiv is an independent art institution with a unique collection of artworks, objects, and books across all genres. Through its programming, the institution reflects a particular interest in alternative historiography, artistic publishing, and experimental forms of mediation.

The publication Forestill deg at du faller contains two texts that in different ways address what things are and the roles they play in everyday life. The first, Odyssevs årelange villfarelse, is written by Sigurd Tenningen (b. 1982), author and Associate Professor of Nordic Literature at the University of Agder. The second text, Ett sekund av evigheten, is written by Hein B. Bjerck (b. 1954), archaeologist and Professor Emeritus at the Department of Archaeology and Cultural History at NTNU.

The conversation will take place in the Festsalen on the first floor of Rådhusgata 19, where Oslo Kunstforening is located. Free admission and the publication will be available for purchase at a launch price. The exhibition will be open until 18:00, making it possible to view the exhibition before the conversation begins. Welcome!
