Screening: PURPOSE CORE
9 January, 6–8 pm
Deichman Bjørvika

In connection with the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB Grant Exhibition, Oslo Kunstforening and Deichman Bjørvika invite you to a film screening and artist talk with PURPOSE CORE on Friday, 9 January,18–20, in the library cinema. Manifesto I (26:42 min) and Manifesto II (48:35 min) will be screened in the library cinema. The artists will provide live audio description for those who would like it.

PURPOSE CORE consists of Ihra Lill Scharning (b. 1986) and Katarina Skjønsberg (b. 1987), both of whom live and work in Oslo. Since 2013, the artist duo has created performative film manifestos that explore existential and everyday themes with a mix of seriousness and clichés. Through the characters PURPOSE and CORE, they question collaboration and artistic production, as well as art’s autonomy in relation to accessibility. The exhibition takes us, among other things, on a time travel through a twelve-year-long collaboration, combining new and older works. At Oslo Kunstforening they present the installation Det utilgjengelige rommet [The Inaccessible Room], drawing attention to the building’s lack of accessibility.

The Sparebankstiftelsen DNB Grant Exhibition 2025 is on view until 11 January 2026. PURPOSE CORE has works both outside and inside Oslo Kunstforening, and presents the main part of their work on the 4th floor of Deichman Bjørvika. In addition, they have created an audio guide to make the exhibition as accessible as possible.
