The DNB Savings Bank's art grant 2017 is awarded Emilija Škarnulytė
Oslo Kunstforening and The DNB Savings Bank Foundation has the pleasure of presenting a grant exhibition for the tenth year in a row.
The following artists are participating in this years exhibition: Bente Louise Aas, Bjørn Mortensen, Emilija Škarnulytė, Ingrid Eggen og Roderick Hietbrink.
The DNB Savings Bank's art grant 2017 is awarded Emilija Škarnulytė. Škarnulytė receives an 175.000 NOK art grant.
The jury makes the following statement: "This year's grant winner masters her medium to the full and draws up a mythological landscape in a formatively strong video installation. She creates settings that's never been seen before through digital modelling- and editing techniques combined with an engaging montage. A soundtrack based on recordings made on-site places the video in a bodily experience of places that are built to expand boundaries for human experience and knowledge, yet come across as desolate and alien. «Sirenomelia» shows monumental man-made apparatuses and instruments and weave them together to one installation - both timely relevant and thought provoking."
